Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro

(born February 24, 1979 in Rio de JaneiroBrazil) is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and mixed martial artist. He holds a professional MMA record of 20 wins and 4 losses.

Mixed Martial Arts career

Vitor Ribeiro is an accomplished grappler. He has won the CBJJ Mundials (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championship) four times, once as a purple belt in 1996 and three times as a black belt in three consecutive years (1999, 2000, and 2001). He has competed in the ADCC World Championship in 2000 and 2003.

"Shaolin" is considered one of the top lightweights in MMA. He has fought in several bouts in organizations all over the world, such as Shooto Japan, Shooto Hawaii, Rumble on the Rock (Hawaii), Cage Rage (England), and K-1 HERO'S (Japan). He has held the Shooto welterweight (154 lb) title, as well as the Cage Rage World lightweight championship. CageRage website

After a brief absence from the MMA world, Ribeiro returned to competition at DREAM.8, where he dominated former Olympic wrestler Katsuhiko Nagata ending the fight with a brutal TKO. In his next fight with DREAM, he lost to Shinya Aoki in a unanimous decision at Dream.10 on July 20.

On September 24, it was announced that he had signed a multi-fight deal with Strikeforce 

Vitor Shaolin Ribeiro made his Strikeforce debut on May 15th against currently undefeated Lyle Beerbohm  He lost the bout via split decision.
